HVA Ceylon is a natural foods manufacturer, importer and distributor based in Valencia, California. We specialize in importing and distributing specialty food and beverage products from Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon).
Sri Lanka has an amazing array of products to offer the discerning natural food consumer in the United States. Sri Lanka has been world famous for well over 150 years for its fine pure Ceylon teas--in fact, the world renowned Lipton brand got its start on the little island of Ceylon. Similarly, “true” Ceylon cinnamon, which grows in the sandy soils of the island’s southern coast, is unrivaled in the global cinnamon trade. Sri Lankan coconut products too are widely sought after globally.
We founded HVA Ceylon with the aim of improving the availability of premium quality Sri Lankan natural food products in the United States. We have built our company on a deep commitment to sourcing the finest quality products from the most ethical sources, delivering reliable customer service and creating innovations that add real value for our customers.
Because we import directly from the source, and are equipped with our own warehousing and distribution capabilities, we are able to pass on more value to our customers than our competitors. Apart from an array of retail products, we offer our clients a range of commercial solutions, including private labeling and bulk/wholesale products.
Our products are fully compliant with all the major international certifications and accreditations [link to relevant page] such as USDA Organic Certification, EU Organic Certification, Ethical Tea certification and Fairtrade Certification, just to name a few.
Currently we offer a wide variety of organic and conventional Pure Ceylon tea and coconut products. Due to our deep and robust supply chain, our product portfolio is constantly expanding.

Our Pure Ceylon teas are sourced from our manufacturing affiliate in Sri Lanka, HVA Foods PLC.
HVA Foods is one of Sri Lanka’s fastest growing exports companies and ranks among the largest tea exporters in the country. The company was established in 1997 as a Board of Investment (BOI) approved company and is publicly traded in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE)
Our ISO 22000 certified 30,000 sq ft. manufacturing facility is located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Also housed in the facility is our iced tea manufacturing plant, which is equipped with state-of-the-art tea extracting technology. Our manufacturing facility also includes the Heladiv Concept Center, which is Sri Lanka's first commercial, standardized tea research and development laboratory. With the ability to carry out physical and microbiological research, the R&D facility is a cornerstone of our global competitiveness and product innovation.
At every stage of production, we are guided by an environmentally and socially-conscious corporate policy. Our production facilities are accredited by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) of Sri Lanka. In recognition of our efforts in this arena, we were awarded the Ethical Tea, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and Good Earth Policy certifications. We combine traditional manufacturing methodologies with green initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. For example, our product facilities are designed to enable the maximum use of natural light, which allows us to use significantly less fossil fuels. In contrast with most production facilities in Sri Lanka, we have a stringently enforced recycling policy which also contributes significantly to our low environmental impact.

Johann H Fernando
Chief Executive Officer
Johann serves as the chief executive officer of HVA Ceylon LLC. He has over 18 years of experience in the tea industry, with a broad skill set ranging from tea tasting, procurement and blending to international brand marketing. His work has spanned several dozen countries, and every continent.
A serial entrepreneur, he has founded and currently serves on the boards of 8 companies including Open Road Equipe (Pvt) Ltd.,a Colombo-based agency for high-end bicycle brands including Trek and Scott; and Global Hanazono (Pvt) Ltd, the managing agency of a popular boutique restaurant located in the upscale historic Dutch Fort district in the city of Galle, Sri Lanka.
Anuradha is the Vice President of HVA Ceylon LLC. He moved to sunny Southern California from Sri Lanka almost a decade ago. Anuradha is a start-up entrepreneur with more than 15 years’ experience working in diverse multilingual and multicultural settings in south and east Asia and the United States.
He was previously the founder and CEO of Infoshare, an IT company with a presence in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Los Angeles, USA. Anuradha’s core skill set is in business development, sales and client relations and has managed accounts for a range of high profile public and private sector clients including Microsoft, Swiss Foreign Office, Government of the Philippines and The United Nations among others.
Anuradha has a deep passion for the natural food industry; in his spare-time he works on product development for the vegan and vegetarian market segment in the west coast of the United States, focusing on ready-to-eat plant-based meat alternatives. He is conscious of the need for more inter-linkages between natural food producer and consumer communities around the world, and is currently making an effort to collaborate with socially and environmentally conscious food producers in Sri Lanka to help them find market opportunities in the United States.
